Most
people cannot believe their eyes when they enter Casa Galilei for the first
time. No photo can really do it justice do you know of any other house with
its own real caves dating back to Etruscan times? The apartment (formerly the
monasterys guest quarters) was fully restored two years ago using the
hand-fired terracotta tiles and beech beams that would have been familiar to
its original residents. Despite its antiquity, the apartment is comfortably equipped
with central heating and everything the present-day traveller could desire.
Casa
Galilei sleeps 6/8 in four bedrooms, with two bathrooms. The price includes
cleaning. Changeover day is Saturday; available 4pm, leave by 10am.

bed linen and towels, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, gas oven
with gas hob, fridge-freezer, cot, high chair, iron, ironing board,
hair drier, vacuum cleaner, tea/coffee making equipment.
Description The 200 sq.m. house is arranged over two floors with an entranceat ground level outside the monastery and an entrance inside the monastery. It consists of:
(level of monastery second floor) Kitchen with new fitted units, combination cookerwith electric oven/gas hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave and extending table. Large lounge (5m x 7m) with three sofas and TV (satellite). Master bedroom and ensuite bathroom with floor length windows overlooking the valley. Contains wardrobe and chest of drawers.
Second lounge/bedroom 2/study
(5m x 5m) with a sofa and sofabed and desk and floor length windows
overlooking the valley. The room faces west over the valley with
wonderful sunset views. Laundry room with washing machine, sink, vacuum cleaner and other cleaning aids. Three grottos
(within the house, but closed off by doors), handcarved from the tufa
thousands of years ago by the original Etruscan residents of the Rocca.
(level of monastery first floor) Bedroom 3 (5 x 5m) with two single beds plus one futon bed, wardrobe and TV. Floor length windows overlooking the valley. Bedroom 4 (4 x 5 m) with two single beds plus one futon bed, wardrobe and TV. Floor length windows overlooking the valley. Bathroom with shower, wc, sink, bidet.
The restoration The
rooms internal to the monastery have been restored and the four
bedrooms and bathroom external to the monastery (the monastery's former
guest quarters) have been fully rebuilt.
