Rome is at short distance from Capena and if you are staying at one of our houses you should definitely save at least a day or two for visiting the `eternal city`. Getting to Rome from Capena is very easy either if you have a car or if you want to travel via taxi or public transport.

Let’s start with the most expensive option: taxi. Well, if you want to splurge and travel at most comfort without having the hassle of driving, you can arrange for a taxi to take you into town. A journey to Rome center will take no longer than 30 minutes and around €70…which is not that expensive if it’s 4 of you.

If you have a rental car, then getting to Rome it’s a no-brainer. You can find info on Google map, but you will also find detailed info in the house. It takes around 20 minutes to drive into Rome (depending on traffic) and we recommend you parking at the Olympic Stadium in via Maresciallo Pilduski all day for  €2 and then walk to the center or take a bus to Piazzale Flaminio. Just remember that Romans are quite bold drivers so keep your eyes open!

If you don’t have a car or prefer anyway to travel via public transport, it will probably take a bit longer but it will also be the cheapest option and you will be able to get among the locals! The best way if you want to visit the major sights, designer shops, Spanish Steps,  Trevi Fountain, etc. is to go via Saxa Rubra. The whole trip takes about 45 mins.

From Capena, take the bus to Saxa Rubra from the car park near the football ground (to connect with the local train into Rome). You will find a timetable in the house, but you can also double-check the one in the bar.

From Saxa Rubra take the local commuter train to Piazzale Flaminio (Rome direction) . These run every ten minutes.

From Piazzale Flaminio you can walk through the city walls into Piazza del Popolo and most of the main attractions are going to be at walkable distance.

There is also a Metro stop at Piazzale Flaminio if you want to go somewhere a bit further away or are tired of walking!

The metro-bus ticket costs €8.00 per day and is valid until midnight on all outward and return routes on all the existing means of transport except taxis in Rome. You can take the tram, train, metro and bus as often as you like using the same ticket.

Single journey tickets cost €1.50 and are valid for 1 hour and 15 minutes during which you can change means of transport, provided the journey only includes one metro ride.

The one-day ticket is valid from Capena, which is included in the circuit. You can buy a 3-zone seven-day ticket for €23.

Enjoy Rome and its magnificent beauty!!
