This weekend saw the 86th edition of the Capena Wine Festival, with stalls, a procession of decorated floats, grapes, wine and a concert by Enrico Ruggeri. And I am very sad to have missed it yet again – maybe next year…
Mind you, I bet it isn’t quite how I remember it in the early 1980s, with wine flowing freely from the lion’s head and the whole village made over to a 200 cc go-kart track marked only by flimsy bales of straw. With everyone stumbling around in a drunken haze and the go-karts zipping around it was a miracle no-one got hurt and the best fun to be had all year!
